The Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention (Black CAP)

The Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention (Black CAP) is a
community-based organization in Canada that focuses on HIV prevention,
education, and support services specifically tailored to the needs of African,
Caribbean, and Black communities. Their solutions include:
1.
Education and awareness: Black CAP provides
culturally relevant information about HIV/AIDS transmission, prevention methods
such as condom use or PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis), harm reduction
strategies like needle exchange programs.
2.
Testing and counseling: They offer free
confidential HIV testing along with pre-test counseling to address any concerns
individuals may have regarding their sexual health status . Post-test
counselling ensures appropriate follow-up care if required .

Supportive Services : Providing emotional ,
practical supports including referrals ensuring clients are connected with
necessary resources.
4.
Community engagement & outreach - Organizing
events/ workshops aimed at raising awareness within black communities while
reducing stigma associated with seeking help.

Advocacy – Working towards addressing systemic
barriers faced by affected populations through policy advocacy efforts aiming
at improving access to healthcare /support systems etc
6.
Cultural competency training - Offering cultural
sensitivity trainings targeting service providers working within public health
sector so they can better understand unique challenges faced by these specific
groups
Through its comprehensive approach encompassing education,
